This Abel was the son of Isaac F German and his first wife Rachel Husted, and the brother of Zachariah. He was born c.1815, married Delanah Nichol on April 4, 1844 and died childless on May 31 of the same year. Isaac and Delanah petitioned the court to name Delanah as the administrator of his estate. His probate records in
Delhi, NY include a ledger of medical expenses by Abel which show visits by a physician to
Ezekiel German's home. Abel owned 1/2 of Lot 34 in the same area of Roxbury Township, near Prattsville, as Isaac, Zachariah and Ezekiel. We have not found him in any census. The records of administration state that Isaac F German was his father.
Abel is buried in the Lower (Benham) cemetery in Prattsville. His marriage to Delanah and his death are recorded in the Vital Records of the Dutch Reformed Church of Prattsville.
This stone is the fourth one in on the left side as you face the graveyard from the road, slightly more than 1/2 way to the back.
Zachariah German named his third son, who was born in 1836, Abel. Zachariah's son is the Abel we are descended from.
