Subject: AW: Merishausen Surname "German"

Dear Mr. German,

I’m sorry, that you have to wait for this answer such a long time. I’ve done some researches to find out something about your ancestor Jacob Germann in our parish registers in the public record office in Schaffhausen (Staatsarchiv Schaffhausen). As there are so many families in Merishausen called Germann, I’ve been searching for a hint, to which line of Germannfamiliy your ancestor could have belonged. The problem is: that the oldest register starts in the year 1715 and so don’t give any hint to a Jacob Germann, who emigrated in 1709.

As name and addresses of our church members are protected of data privacy, I’m not allowed to disclose them. But you can find some Germann in the public directory:
http://tel.local.ch/de/q?what=Germann&where=Merishausen&rid=bA7d&utf8=%E2%9C%93. I can’t tell you if they respectively which of them are interested in genealogy or their family’s history. And if you want to contact them the fewest can speak English.

If you want to visit the village of your ancestors one day, we would be pleased to hear from you and could probably arrange a meeting with some Germann families or show you Merishausen and its surroundings.

Kind regards
Karin Marterer
